Shared experience
Party members in the same area get full experience without first hitting the enemy, so support, control and clearing all contribute to the party’s growth.
Ephinea is a free private server for Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst (PSOBB). It keeps SEGA’s original core gameplay and adds modern online systems, conveniences, optional challenge content and long-running events.
Normal mode keeps the original experience rates, rare enemy rates, class stats and nearly all item parameters by default. Drop tables are adjusted for balance, especially on Ultimate, but iconic items keep the drop sources players know as far as possible. Ephinea sells nothing that affects combat strength and has no server-made equipment.
The goal isn’t to remake PSO but to improve multiplayer cooperation, client compatibility and long-term play on top of the original combat framework. Players who want something closer to GameCube/Xbox Episode I & II can choose the separate Classic mode.
Party members in the same area get full experience without first hitting the enemy, so support, control and clearing all contribute to the party’s growth.
You can use a drop system where each player sees their own drops, so there’s no racing for items; shared drops remain available as a room option.
The original Damage Cancel is gone, so teammates attacking together no longer have one hit’s higher damage overwritten by another’s.
Nearly every quest can be played in Multiplayer and One Person mode, and doors that need several players have been adapted for solo play.
Each account has 32 character slots and a shared bank every character can access; type /bank to switch banks.
You can still change your appearance after creating a character, and server features let you change your character’s name and Section ID.
The bank holds up to 999,999,999 Meseta, and Materials and Grinders stack to 99 in both your inventory and the bank.
The tool shop always stocks common recovery items; rare items play a sound when they drop and show a red dot on the minimap.
A separate character mode focused on Episode I & II, with Ephinea-specific boosts such as Anguish and RBR turned off, for an experience closer to the early console versions.
An extra difficulty for Ultimate rooms that raises enemy HP, damage, accuracy, resistances and more, while also raising experience, Meseta and rare drop rewards.
Both Challenge and Battle modes are playable; Ephinea also offers Challenge mode on Ultimate with its own character setups.
For testing builds and experimenting; commands can create items or adjust characters. Sandbox characters can only party with characters in the same mode.
Each week one quest from each of three episodes rotates in, giving extra DAR, RDR and experience boosts; playing in a party raises the rewards further.
The server rotates experience, DAR, RDR or rare enemy boosts on a schedule; the daily forecast also gives an RDR bonus to specific class, race and sex combinations.
The client supports widescreen, a high-res HUD, several Direct3D/Vulkan renderers and optional shaders.
Supports extra shortcut keys, XInput triggers and configurable pickup and Photon Blast controls to reduce mis-presses.
The official client and main quests support English and Japanese, with Ships in different regions to reduce network latency.
Each Block has extended lobbies and a jukebox; the official leaderboards track character growth, combat, wealth and other stats.
