π― Auto-facing in combos
The combo system includes an auto-facing mechanic that affects your character's direction during a combo:
πΉ Turning rules during a combo
1. First attack (1st combo step)
- When you press an attack button, your character automatically turns towards the nearest enemy inside the targeting cone.
2. Second / third attack (2nd / 3rd combo step)
- Auto-facing occurs only when the current target is the same as the previous target.
π§ Advanced techniques: controlling or bypassing auto-facing
β
1. Snap aim (first attack only)
- When you move the stick and press an attack button, your character attacks in the input direction without automatically targeting an enemy.
- Key feature:
- Turn and attack on the spot, without moving.
- Uses:
- Avoiding ranged attacks from Indi Belra
- Trapping enemies against a wall, such as Ill Gill and Gibbles in the Control Tower
β
2. Precise multi-target kills with Heaven Striker
With Heaven Striker, you can deal with several targets precisely:
Sequence:
1. N1: manually aim at the gap between two enemies with low HP (avoid targeting either).
2. S2: kill target A.
3. S3: kill target B.
π N1 does not acquire a target β S2/S3 do not trigger auto-facing β you maintain the precise firing angle.
β
3. No auto-facing when there is no enemy
- If you start the first attack (N1) before enemies spawn or enter range, automatic turning does not occur.
β
4. Palette cancel
Use the action palette to cancel target tracking and target recording:
How to do it:
- Press an attack button on the front palette.
- At the same time, hold any button on the back palette that has no attack assigned.
π Effects:
- No projectile is created.
- No target is hit, even in melee.
- No enemy is targeted.
- Allied freeze traps and similar objects are not detonated.
π Result: the game records no target, so subsequent combo attacks do not turn automatically.
Common use:
- When enemies have just spawned, use a Shot or Needle to maintain your angle for a subsequent precise S3 kill.
